The smartphone market keeps changing, and it’s not easy to keep up, but when a really good device comes out, it makes a lasting impression that lasts at least a year. Most of us don’t get to enjoy the best and newest devices – upgrading your cell phone every year is close to impossible – but it’s always nice to read about the newest additions, and it never hurts to dream. So which is your dream device? Which of these prominent devices is the best one available today? Or did we miss the mark completely and left out the one that’s really the best?

Why is the device you voted for as the best? What makes it YOUR dream device? Which are some of the really good ones we missed? Discuss in the comments!

I like my LG optimus G. An upgrade from the Nexus 4 with more space and LTE data speeds. Slightly faster than the Samsung S3

I like Sony Experia Z. Because Sony is a very good brand since I was in my childhood days. And in any gadget they give that satisfaction. I wanted it's water resistant feature and it's resolution and sleek image. I think Nexus 4 and HTC One are good phone because iphone5 and Samsung phones are fad phones people just wanted to have but not me...

I think the Motorola Razr Max HD is the best smartphone on the market. It has the advantage of a longer battery life, gorilla glass, hot spot, gps and a ton of cool features.

Many thing the Note II is too big, but once you have one, you convince yourself that it's the best phone on the list.

This may be a popular choice, but I saw the BB Z10 in action and I was impressed by the speed and ease of use. The user was not terribly technical ( in fact he usually had a friend set up contacts and his apps ) but was still able to find his way around. The device was very quick and I like the large clear screen.
I've seen the iPhone and Android devices and they pale in comparison. Neither appears as slick or quick. Despite the apparent lack of apps, BB developers keep up with the most requested and useful ones and BB is encouraging more development.
BB has a solid history of putting out a quality product and will be around for a while yet. Their worldwide installed is just too large to shrivel up and die overnight.
I cannot use one as it is not an option given by our company's phone plan, so for now this remains on my wish list, but...

I have to agree that it is the individual that will decide which of the smartphones is the best.

Each manufacturer has something that will meet a persons demands. However after saying that there is one thing that has to be taken in into account and that is the globalization of the use of cellphone (smart or otherwise). This is where the type of OS and the manufacturer come in. Overall the Android system is the leading OS system, and as for manufacturer it comes down to Samsung.

People today need ease of use and the ability to change a battery if it fails. Some manufacturers have it impossible.

All cell phone models are good it depends on who, what, where and how and price to fit the persons needs.

I didn't think it was up for debate. I thought the Samsung Galaxy S III was generally regarded as the best phone on the planet. And, no, I don't have one, so I'm not just picking the phone I have!

My choose is Samsung Galaxy Note II
most of it, the pin App is excellent.
big, clear screen and Multi Window, the battery can one one full day with watching and gaming.
also, very good support from Samsung and other ROMs from different developers groups.
I can't get enough of it.

I voted for the HTC One, because HTC are the only manufacturer bringing amazing design innovation to phones. Samsung are doing their best to get rid of the idea that desgn matters, by churning out lumps of ugly plastic(a la Galaxy SIII/SIV), and HTC are the only ones bringing fresh new beautiful phones to the market.

The unibody design of the HTC One is just beautiful, and the seamless construction just oozes quality. I am a designer and it just pains me to see the ugly designs being produced by many smartphone makers today, with the LG Nexus 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S3/S4 being the worst culprits.

I like the innovations in the One as well. HTC have made the camera so much better quality than most cameras on smartphones now. What has been happening for the last few years is that phone makers have just been increasing the megapixel count of phones. This just lets you take bigger photos, but it doesn't improve the quality of the photos at all. People need to get it into their heads that more megapixels doesn't mean better photos, it is a total marketing thing just so people will see a bigger number of megaixels and assume it's better.

What HTC has done with the One, is to make the actual pixels bigger, using Ultrapixels, rather than just making more pixels. This has the result that the pixels can take in more light, and this dramatically improves the quality of the photos the camera takes. This should have been where manufacturers started four years ago, so that the actual photo quality improved, rather than just making the photos bigger, but rubbish quality.

All I can say is that I hope all the other phone manufacturers follow suit and start to pay attention to what really matters, rather than just doing things to fool consumers into thinking they are getting a better phone.

Things do change quickly, but it doesn't mean you have to get a new phone year. Believe it or not, I only switched to a smartphone last year, after my trust old Nokia broke down, and even then I took an old one we had lying around the house. I currently use a 3 years old device running a very old version of Android. It's OK not to own the top of the line, even with smartphones. :)

iPhone and IOS hands down winner. Android requires you to allow shady Google to have acces to your private data and thats something im totaly against my private data is mine NOT Shady Google's. Also the Android OS has the worst virus record of all mobile OS's and that turns me off. Anyway what ever device you like well thats the best for you really these whats the best device polls are silly you pays your money and takes you choice.

In my region, Samsung is the most popular brand. I own a Samsung Galaxy Young. But it doesn't make Samsung is the best Smartphone on the market, I think. How can I know the pros of the alternatives smartphone of Samsung, without even try them. But when I buy a new smartphone in the near future, I like to buy Galaxy S III. HaHa.Whatever.......

As it goes with preference and choice ,i would vote for iPhone 5 not just because it is sleek, fast and trendy with fastest wireless communication and brilliant battery back up but also because it has got some unique features which is lot more easier to use in short user friendly.

Samsung galaxy S3 is the best smartphone available as i voted for it because samsung brings out a surness for quality of product than any other brand for all parts of it .To test it give phones of different with the same price and features to a person to buy . He will surely pick up a samsung phone like a boss because he knows the brand power of samsung , Same here all above phones have nearly same features but majority of vote is going to Samsung .

It boils down to personal preferences and needs. My choice? Of course Note 2 which I own a unit...not too small that I need to squint to read mails and what not, not too big which make me couldn't fit it in my pocket...If people want best of both world (phone vs. tablet) and don't like to lug , I would recommend SG Note/ Note 2 or any device with similar physical screen size...

    April 1, 2013 at 4:33 am

I voted Blackberry Z10, since I like to be able to multitask a lot, but despite that, I think it comes down to preference mostly. While I use my phone to be able to move away from the computer by reading stuff on my mobile, others will want to use games more, which Iphone's are popular for. Others want overall performance, one that can do a little of everything, which would be the Samsung Galaxy SIII. And I could go on with this, but smartphones all have their uses, but since the word "best" will always be an opinion, it's important to find the one that is "best" in your opinion, and not someone else's.

    • Yaara Lancet
      April 6, 2013 at 5:30 pm

Definitely. It goes without saying that when you vote in the poll, you're stating your own opinion. If you can't choose, seeing what other people think could at least lead you in the right direction, especially if you know why they think the way they do.

I voted for Samsung Galaxy S3. I just preferred this phone since my friend has one and I enjoy using it when I borrow it from him. Another factor for choosing this phone (over iPhone) is because of it's OS. Need I also metion more free apps for android?

    • Chinmay Sarupria
      April 1, 2013 at 7:23 am

I can't believe that your factor for choosing S3 over iPhone was OS. Android can't beat iOS in any aspect. And there are no quality apps on Android. 1 free iOS app is equal to 100 free Android apps.

  31. Rajaa Chowdhury
    April 1, 2013 at 1:53 am

All the phones mentioned are very capable phones in their own right with their own set of pros and cons. However, I voted for Nexus 4, not that it is the most featured phone, but for the simple reason that no other phone can beat it in terms of ROI vis-a-vis the price/feature set offered. That what makes most consumers happy. Owning a good device which is up there at almost half the price of others. Nexus 4 wins hands down in that over the other smartphones mentioned.

Also I would like to mention a Indian phone, the Micromax Canvas 3 HD A116, which at around US$255 is not a bad offering, I must say.

The Nexus 4 is my phone of choice. I'm sure there's going to be a few i-phone v's Android bashings which I have never understood. Phones are a personal choice and each has it's merits. The fact that phones are capable of giving us access to the entire world and keep our friends and family in the palm of our hands is nothing short of amazing.
Saying that.... the Nexus 4 is awesome! ;O)

But Android always wins. While i Agree with you that phones are a personal choice, there are some things that should never be accepted with any electronics item as a consumer. one of them is Crippleware.
Apple does not allow microsd card expansion and forces you to pay more for a mere extra 8 or 16 gb of storage while simply adding an sd card would cost much less. It costs them even less to increase the capacity from 8 to 16.

And apple fanboy want to stay in denial. That is why all these fights happen.

Its not like apple does it. Even HTC did it with both their Android phones(not putting a MSD card and many mid-range phones never had a secondary camera) and their windows phone the 8S where they gave a low inbuilt storage. That crippled the phone cause in Windows 8 you cannot move applications to the SD card.

I was a Nokia fanboy, they stopped making good phones I stopped using them.
From the feature set it seems Nokia Lumia 920 has everything. you need in a phone.
These fights will happen as long as people stop being fans..Fans is derived from the word "Fanatic".
Instead they should strive to be patron of technology and corporations that keep consumer interests before everything else.

As long as we keep "fanatically" supporting a brand even when it lets us down these fights will happen and worse, they will continue making "incomplete products"

Honestly it more comes down to personal preference. Samsung makes popular phones, but no single manufacturer wins every category hands down.
