Bounce rate is probably the one that I pay attention to a lot, although I still focus a lot on pageviews.

Glad you all liked this post! In terms of conversion rates, I am talking about the percentage of people that are 'converting' on your website - this could be in the form of a newsletter signup, or product sold, or whatever else your are trying to get your visitors to do.

Thanks for this list. I've had online conversations with dozens of people on why getting "10,000 hits" really isn't a big deal if they don't know how many visitors that was.

One comment for you about Browsers though. While I don't worry too much about FF vs. IE, I do like to keep track of how many visitors are coming in using mobile browsers. If that percentage gets high enough it means I need to work out a way of serving pages that look ok on mobile devices.

And one for number 19 - Robots. It's good to keep track of how many crawlers are hitting your site and what percentage of your visitors are robots.

Super, duper post and a definite read for my audience, I'm passing this along.
You've covered and revealed some really good treasure here, that most "gurus" won't uncover!

Thank You!

#18 Conversion Rates ...conversion to *what*? I'm confused.

And browser stats can be useful from a design POV. I know my site is mostly visited by Linux users with Gecko-based browsers, so I know I can use -moz-border-radius: on my CSS to get round corners (yes, I use the standard border-radius as well for KHTML-based browsers like Konqueror, Safari, etc.). IE users can't see them, but meh, I don't care about users of proprietary operating systems and browsers.

The way you have highlighted the important metrics is quite nice. I certainly gained something out of this post.
