Wave Timer: Hands Free Kitchen Timer [iPhone]

Alarm clocks and kitchen timer apps are aplenty, but there are always new apps bringing a fresh spin to a core phone function. Wave Timer is an iPhone app that lets you turn off the alarm by just waving your hand.

By using the phone’s proximity sensor, you won’t have to touch the phone to silence the alarm. Like any simple kitchen counter app, setup is easy with not too many options in the way. But the gesture made possible by the app allows you to keep your phone clean especially when you are in the kitchen or if you are exercising. It also saves you from fiddling your phone when your hands are busy.

Opening the app, you will find a squeaky clean, touch-optimized interface. The way you scroll the number to set the timer is so much fun.

However, due to iOS’s limitations, the gesture will only work if the app is running in the foreground. If the app is running in the background it will still alarm and you can still turn it off, but you won’t be able to use the gesture.

Wave Timer is a free download from the iTunes App Store.

Features:

  • Shut down alarm by waving hand over your phone.
  • Touch gestures to quickly setup the timer.
  • Simple and clean interface.
  • Reminds you to use the app on the foreground with a notification.
  • Similar tools: Timer Pop, ClockEasyAlarmed and TimerTab.
