Sure, you can install Virtualbox inside your Ubuntu and run Windows in there.

Ubuntu is more stable than ever since 7.10 with updates! And I'm impressed with the beta of 8.04 (comes out in 2 days of this posting) I'm not going back to windows for my personal PC!! Everyone should try it out! Ubuntu has come a long way since a year ago! I have been messing around with Linux for a couple of years now and just recently decided that its time to ditch my vista and upgrade! Never been happier. I am able to do all the things as on windows except play Portal... But thats what I bought my PS3 for! Counterstrike Source runs great on Ubuntu through Wine.... If your a hardcore PC gamer I would keep a windows Partition for that though.

It's not just mounting the CD. It's *like* mounting a CD iso in that it's a disk image, but this is a fully installed system. Just mounting the iso would only let you access the menu, just like putting the CD in the drive would.

Awesome. I used to run Ubuntu via VMware, but with this setup it's a lot faster. Thanks for the excellent tip. ;-)

Hi Mackenzie,a very well written article.
Mounting the .iso on your drive to make the OS see it as if it was a real, physical CD is a very cool idea indeed.
This is exactly what Virtual CloneDrive does :
Virtual CloneDrive allows you to run CD/DVD applications from the hard disk no more need for physical CD/DVD drives or the actual CD/DVD media.

I was wondering if i can just create the image of Ubuntu Live CD using Virtual CloneDrive and use it...or do I really need to set it up with Wubi. ANY IDEAS!
