A new version of Skype for iOS has just been released, bringing new features to the popular app, along with performance enhancements and battery improvements. The most prominent feature you’ll now find on Skype 4.1 for iPhone and iPad is the ability to share photos through instant messaging.
To send an image through Skype, simply click the plus icon when chatting with a friend, and choose to either send an existing photo from your device or take a new photo to share right there and then. While sharing photos is getting increasingly easy these days, it’s still nice to be able to share photos with friends via Skype’s IM interface, and it’s very easy as well.
In addition to photo sharing, Skype has also introduced faster loading times for the app and contact list, and the entire app should now be less of a strain on your device’s battery, making it possible to keep Skype running in the background and receive IMs and calls through the day.
According to Skype, the photo sharing feature was the most requested for addition to the iOS app. As usual, Skype is requesting for feedback and suggestions through the Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad forums. Who knows, your feature request might be the next to be added!
