    The best way to save is to plan one's shopping instead of waiting until one needs something.

    Once you determine what stores you will shop at, it would help to have an app like United Parcel Service uses to optimize their drivers' routing.

    I find that WalMart does not have the lowest prices. What it does have is the convenience of combining a supermarket with a department store. Through the use of weekly supermarket flier sales, I consistently beat WalMart prices. Also, unless one shops in the middle of the night, it takes longer on the check-out line than at other stores. Since time is money, if one adds the extra time spent in a WalMart check-out line, their prices get less attractive.
