unstuck for ipadAt one point or another in life, we’ve all been stuck. You may have had a clear goal, but not the momentum to carry you through. Feeling you were fighting an uphill battle, shouldering all the responsibilities for an important project, or maybe just doing busywork trying to outrun that important life-changing decision.

Being stuck is hard. And I mean really hard, because every situation is different. Usually it takes guidance from the people you trust, a game-changing event, or a harsh wake-up call to get unstuck.

Once you’re stuck, it’s hard to get moving again, but not at all impossible. Unstuck for iPad is an application to aid you in this feat.

Unstuck

Unstuck is an iPad application designed to get you back on your feet and moving again. Besides being a treat to the eyes, Unstuck hand tailors to your specific stuck moment — at least, as much as any application can.

By all means, it’s no magical pill. Getting unstuck will still be hard, but the application can make it more manageable by a long stretch. It does so by helping you align your thoughts and offering responses to deal with your specific flavour of ‘being stuck’.

The Process

Through a series of clear and accessible questions, Unstuck first attempts to learn more about the specifics of your Stuck. It asks you to envision your situation and choose three feelings you associate with it, describe your problem in a few short sentences, and so on.

After this short, but thorough questionnaire, Unstuck will analyse your answers and generate a profile—more precisely, categorize the way you’re approaching this moment and why that got you stuck. It’s important to know that this profile has to do with your situation, more than it does with you (it’s no horoscope!)

In addition to characterisation, Unstuck tells you how to best get unstuck—I bet you saw this one coming—from this kind of situation. Of course, this advice is general; Unstuck will hardly measure up to an actual life-coach. But it does provide a number of articles relevant to your behaviour, and tools that can help you get the facts straight and start working towards a solution.

A lot of this information is easily accesible through your ‘Stuck Moment’, by selecting an ever-present piece of crumpled paper in the top left corner of your tablet screen. This provides a simplified view of the application’s conclusion, including the information you volunteered during the initial questionnaire. Through this screen, it’s also possible to go back and revisit your answers.

Tools

In the long run, the tools to which you are referred at the end of the process will take up most of your time. If you’re not at all clouded about why you’re stuck, but just want the tools to help you get up and moving, you can also access these tools directly, by pressing the Unstuck icon in the lower left of your tablet screen.

This will also allow you to view all the tools, and not just those that were recommended to you after the questionnaire. Among other things, these tools can help you plan your ideas, face off different decisions, and brainstorm for ideas.

I was initially quite skeptical, but after taking a look, I think it can work in some cases. Esp. when you actually know how to do, both to think clearly and solve the problem, but for some reason, such as stress are stuck

This is a good app for people that don't have time nor money for a life coach. The questions help you get out of your rut.

I just tried the app. I have been feeling Stuck and the Tools had me put in words what has been on my mind. Yeah I could have done this on my own, eventually. However, the app kept prodding me for more info. This one is a keeper.
