I use AeroFoil. It uses alot less resources and it can be configured to automatically change power modes depending on if an AC is detected or not. It also allows you to disable the Aero mouse feature and Sidebare to reserve even more power.

I use yahoo widgets’ Neon gauges. It not only allows me to monitor battery levels, but cpu,swap,wifi,ram and hard disk space. Very customizable(color,size,style of gauge). Even tells you the time left until fully charged.

I use power meter plus – nice app. nice thing about pmp is it jumps out of the way if you mouse over it which is nice if you are working apps. i have the setting “always on top”.

i’ve got battery bar downloaded but haven’t yet ran it.
