Some of us may have close Twitter friends whom we have never met in person. Nevertheless, it's still nice if we could somehow show them nice gestures such as giving gifts during their birthday or when they are sick, without violating their privacy.

Twegistry is a web service that allows you to send gifts to your Twitter contacts even when you don't know their address. Twegistry acts as a bridge so you can send and receive gifts using Twitter.

To use Twegistry, you need to log in with your Twitter account and allow access to the app. Then to send a gift, just enter your friend's Twitter username in the Twegistry site. Register your address so they can be relayed to the vendors who are selling the gift items. You can also add a message to your gift as well. Finally, select a gift to send.

Twegistry currently offers chocolates, candies, teddy bears, flowers, popcorn, cakes and nuts as gifts. You can pay for these gifts using your PayPal account. Unfortunately though, this service is only available in the United States.
