Tumblr Now Integrates With Facebook Timeline, News Feed & Ticker [Updates]

The Tumblr-Facebook relationship just got tighter with a new Facebook integration update on Tumblr. Tumblr is now an official Open Graph Facebook partner, which means that your Tumblr posts, comments and likes will appear on your Timeline, News Feed and Ticker as what they are – Tumblr activity.

Up until now, a Facebook-Tumblr integration did exist, but your Tumblr posts were posted on Facebook as regular links, and that was the only shareable activity. This is no longer the case. If you visit your Tumblr settings now, you’ll find that Facebook integration has been updated, and you can also decide whether you’d like to share likes and replies from Tumblr on your Timeline.

Another sorely lacking feature which is included in the new update is the ability to toggle Facebook sharing from the post itself. Previously, you could only toggle Twitter sharing, and had to decide about Facebook sharing globally for all posts. It is also possible to submit posts from more than one Tumblr blog to Facebook.

When you share Tumblr activities and posts on Facebook, they will be grouped together, which will be less overwhelming for you friends, especially if you’re very active on Tumblr.

What do you think of the update? Will this change the way you share your Tumblr activity on Facebook?

Pretty nice post. I simply stumbled upon your blog and wished to mention that I have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts. After all I’ll be subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write once more very soon!

I can’t get the posts to appear on my News Feed, they’ll appear on the timeline only and usually grouped together, anyone else seeing this?

The posts being grouped together is actually a feature, they made it so it’s less obtrusive on your Timeline. As for the News Feed, the only thing I can think of is that maybe you chose “Only Me” when adding the Tumblr app?

If it’s not that, you can try asking on MakeUseOf Answers, perhaps someone else has encountered this problem and found a solution.

I have the same problem, when I queue tumblr posts to auto upload they DO not show up in my news feed and i have to manually set them individually to show up in timeline, this new system isn’t good. yet

Hopefully they fix that soon. I don’t even like they way the posts appear, so I’m still using manual link sharing for Facebook..

Yes. I like the old way better. This really sucks having to open individual posts then click show…

I’ve been posting my own posts manually as links, I think they look better than way anyway.

I’ve been researching this issue, trying to understand what’s going on. If I find out, be sure I will share it in an article.

This would make a great question for MakeUseOf Answers. Maybe someone found a workaround.

I agree! Already recommended this earlier in the thread. Someone on Answers is bound to know.

I would suggest RSS Graffiti. It’s very user friendly. Not too complicated, but also gives you a lot of control.

It actually stopped working for me a week ago. I tried to redo the process and I had been getting all my feeds in the timeline from tumblr, but it stopped.

That’s weird. I’m not sure what’s up with Tumblr’s Facebook integration. It has been working on and off for me as well. Did you manage to get it to work again?
