You would think that nothing would scare us – a bunch of adults – anymore. But spooky things still do. I don’t know if it’s the diet of slasher films, or the psychological fear of ghosts in all of us, but the fear has sunk deep roots.

Bravado says that the web is not a tunnel of horrors. But be warned my friends, there are some scary websites out there. These scary websites may not give the screaming meemies to all of you, but some of you could just scream, if only for the fun of it. Still the beating heart – let’s enter eight scary websites to spook yourself and your friends.

Terror Feed [No Longer Available]

scary websites

There’s no point in rushing headlong and slam banging into a frightful situation. So ease yourself and your friends into a spooky evening with this tame horror trailer site. The site is totally community run and swears by quality. From horror shorts to spooky trailers, you get the whole shebang. It has about 3400+ videos.

Let me also throw in Shock Till You Drop into the mix if you like to read about horror movies and watch out for what’s coming.

The Outbreak

very scary websites

You have to survive the outbreak. The Outbreak is an interactive horror/zombie movie. The gameplay forces you to make choices, and it is these choices which can either save you or get you killed as you hop from one decision point to the next. The idea is similar to the many “choose your adventure” video games popular around us except this is a scare show. There are a total of ten places where you have to make your choice and about 21 scenes in all. I couldn’t go the whole course. I hope you understand why. We featured this online scare show when we saw 3 Free Interactive Movies On The Web Where You Are In Control.

The Dionaea House [No Longer Available]

very scary websites

An email correspondence that’s scary? Could be if you read it through. The Dionaea House is a haunting story by Eric Heisserer, an American screenwriter. It is in the form of a series of email correspondence (and three blogs) between two people and the haunted mystery gradually draws you in. Without revealing too much, let’s say it has a lot of side stories and strange peculiarities that will keep you engrossed till the end if you like page turners.

Marble Hornets

The episodic YouTube channel is made in the style of ‘The Blair Witch Project’. It revolves around the myth of The Slender Man, a shape-shifting mysterious character. The shape-shifter is named ‘The Operator’ here and forms the background of the story. The channel itself is a series of videos (57 of them so far) that chronicles the mystery behind an amateur film called Marble Hornets. Here’s the wiki.

Creepypasta

very scary websites

Creepypasta is a collection of paranormal stories that are usually posted on forums, image boards, or sent through e-mail. They are widely and virally popular and you can find them all over the web. The website is a jumping point for the other sites that stock up on creepy stories. This also needs a bit of updating, but you will find a treasure trove of links here which can take you to other sites like 4Chan and Creepypasta Index.

The Anneliese Michel Exorcism Audio Tapes

Put the volume on full. Better still, put on a pair of headphones. Tell me what you think in the comments. Anneliese Michel was a German Catholic woman who was said to be possessed by demons and to free herself, she went through with an exorcism. The Exorcism of Emily Rose and Requiem are loosely inspired by her story.

Ghost Study

really scary websites

The site has one thing to recommend it – it links to some popular "ghost cams" around the world. The site hasn’t been updated for a while, but it has an interesting paranormal photo gallery and ghost cam links. Ghost cams! Yes, there is such a thing. And if you think that ghosts can’t be captured on film then you are wrong. I am kidding here of course, but these cams are quite serious stuff as they watch over places like a Paris catacomb and even Graceland, waiting for Elvis to arise. If you have the patience of a lion hunter, park yourself. Do let us know if you spot a ghost flitting about. Also, take the claims with liberal doses of salt. For most of us, it’s just fun.

Horror Find

scary websites

If your thirst is yet to be quenched, head here. Horror Find says it is the first of its kind horror and Halloween search engine. It contains tons of listings centered on the dark world. It’s not going to scare you outright, but could be real handy for ideas when Halloween comes around.

Oh! We haven’t stopped trying to give you the spooks. Here are a few more scare shows for you and your friends:
