LimeDomains' service also includes poor technical support, extremely slow FTP, and tons of downtime. Angela might have had a great experience in September 2009 before LD went 'big', but in 11/2009 they started promoting their free service more widely and the results have been disastrous. Here's what I believe you can expect from LimeDomains:
- Technicians who have a tenuous grasp of English and even less competence with their own technology
- Downtime weekly, sometimes daily
- No warnings of attempted upgrades or other maintenance involving downtime
- No information about past downtimes or future expectations

LimeDomains doesn't seem to understand that their free service is a sample of their paid service. I certainly wouldn't consider paying them a single cent for the crap I've received. I'll be moving my site (which does not have demanding needs) to another host this month or next.

So in short: LimeDomains is suck. Avoid like plague.

Ha! Oh please, wotaloadofturd. Since you brought up 110mb.com, awardspace.com, (by the way, that's the spelling, not awarspace.com) and freehostia.com - I've used two of those in the past, so I know from personal experience they don't even come CLOSE to ismywebsite.com, which I've been with over a year now, after finally leaving awardspace.com. 110mb.com isn't accessible in every part of the world, proven by how many times people in various countries have complained that they can't access sites hosted on 110mb.com. Awardspace.com likes to randomly erase files whenever they do "maintenance," which became a big pain in the you-know-what when people like me were hosted with them that had fanlisting sites and suddenly had hundreds of members information erased that you couldn't get back because they didn't offer back ups to free accounts. After I lost members on a fanlisting the first time, I started to put the information on my computer, just so I would still have it when they were suddenly erased again, (which happened NUMEROUS times and this is why I finally left them) but others lost a lot more than I did, and awardspace was useless in their response when a complaint was sent to them about information being erased every month. In addition to acting completely clueless as to how it could have happened, they basically said help would be there if we paid for our hosting with them. Funny, ismywebsite.com has NEVER given me that excuse and has ALWAYS helped me.

Freehostia.com isn't one that I've personally used, so I can't give an opinion there, but from what I've heard, they aren't too bad. However, after just taking a look at what they offer, I see that they have a limit on database space, even with paid accounts, so I don't know. The free accounts get 10MB of database space and that doesn't seem like enough to me, but I could be wrong.

You can earn them with our service. I don't think you'll find then absolutely 100% free, unless it's a trick of some kind.

Just for the record, at 4 years, we are older than 110Mb and AwardSpace, though FreeHostia is about the same age, and Zetta Hosting Solutions ltd (the company behind AwardSpace) was founded as a paid host way back in 2002.

If anyone is just getting started and needs to host a small personal website, those are all great alternatives and much faster than our service to get set up. What we offer isn't really comparable to those services because it's a full featured premium hosting, and we target larger websites. We don't sell upgrades. There's no 'paid' version. That's because, what could we add to improve it? If there's something we could add, we'll do it.

It's a different model. You place advertising and that pays for the hosting. So you don't have to pay a dime, and because you placed effective advertising (which of course you did), then we can keep increasing the resources as your website grows, and the revenue increases to pay for them, so it's unlimited flexibility. This also gives us the incentive to help your website succeed, since high traffic sites bring in a lot more earnings.

And before anyone gets mad, no I'm not carrying home a bag of gold every day. We barely cover expenses, and what is left goes to get better servers, so we can host more people, or to buy free domains for the clients who most helped to make that happen. It's only a dream I have to one day be able to sustain myself off something like this.

Have you ever tried out IsMyWebsite.com?
If you don't have, you should try it. If you have, I would like to know what you don't like about it, so we can be better.

Besides blogger.com or other free blogging services. If you have your own domain or like to register with a brand-new subdomain, http://www.ecdomain.com is really your own choice of free web hosting. It's feature Fantastico web scripts builder that let you automatically install blog scripts like Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, PHP Nuke, XOOPS... within minutes.
