When Was The Last Time You Printed Something? [MakeUseOf Poll]

In last week’s poll, we asked you which eBook reader you use. Since we know MakeUseOf readers love their gadgets, we were dying to find out which of the many types of eBook readers are the most popular with all of you well-informed shoppers.

It seems most people (30%) still use a multi-purpose handheld device (eg: iPad, iPhone or Android phone) or a computer (29%) to read eBooks, despite the popularity of handheld eBook reader devices, leaving just 41% of readers using a dedicated eBook device.

Full results and this week’s poll after the jump.

Here’s the full results from last week’s poll.

This week, we’d like to find out how green our readers’ offices and homes are. The poll question is: When was the last time you printed something?

When was it? 5 minutes ago? Earlier today? This week? Months ago? How paperless are you really?

Out of curiosity, what did you print? Was it work stuff? Papers for bureaucracy? Something for home? For your kids? Let us know in the comments!

Oddly enough, I had to print out a picture of a parallel port with numbers marked so I could attempt a BIOS password recovery on an old Toshiba.

The last time I printed something was a ‘test page’ to check if my printer was properly installed. I pretty much do all of my work online, and so have a paperless lifestyle 99% of the time.

I use my printer very little. I just happened to use it yesterday. I was given a Jury summons and had to reply with a written letter asking to be excused.

For the record, I’ve served on a jury in the past and have been summoned nearly every 2 years and I have done my duty. But now I have my own business and I am the sole support for my household. Short version, if I don’t work, I don’t get paid!

I have no choice – I cringe every time I do it but at work, I have to print off all correspondence and file it. With my work – because it involves contracts and a lot of legal proceedings – we have to have a paper trail of everything we do.

Well, I’m a college student so I have printed anything since summer break started. As soon as classes start back up I’m sure I’ll be printing again.

I don’t even have a printer. I just go to Kinkos when I need something printed. This month, it was the paperwork I needed to apply for some benefits. Occasionally it’s a knitting pattern too complex to bother writing out by hand. On average, I’d guess I print something out about once a month or less.

Hundreds of copies of a bulletin flier insert. I’m so glad I bought a basic laser printer a year ago – the organizations I’m involved with require printouts to be brought every month to meetings, and there’s always something going wrong with the inkjet.
