TheSage’s English Dictionary and Thesaurus is a free to use desktop application for Windows computers. You no longer have to face a difficult time in tracking down synonyms for words that you are looking up the meaning of. This application provides its users with a friendly interface to help them easily look up word meanings, their synonyms, and sample usages.

You start by downloading the app’s setup file that is sized at nearly 21 MB. When you open the app after installing it, you will find a text area where you can type the English word you want to check the meaning of. Its meaning is instantly displayed and you can optionally make the word’s synonyms appear as well. Options in the right pane of the application let you enable text to speech which lets you hear the pronunciation of the word and that of the synonyms. You can edit the font styles by going into the options of the application and edit font styles and the appearance of each sections in the app.

    Had been using Microsoft Works dictionary (useful, clean, simple), but since I uninstalled the program, had been looking for another dictionary. Thanks. Will give this program a try. By the way, is there any way I can just keep the dictionary from Microsoft Works?
