The Evolution of Tech Terms

Tablet. Piracy. Thread. Stream. Wireless. Today, these words carry entirely different meanings compared to the past. As technology progresses, certain words get updated or even created! Also, isn’t it fascinating that the word “click” may be endangered as we immerse ourselves deeper in the world of touchscreens?

Telecommunications company Lebara Mobile created this insightful infograph, looking at the past, present and future, and how tech changed the way we speak.

“Now people what they want and need from internet, web surfing is rarely done…” – ha-ha, not true. Previously internet was more expensive, so people were forced to visit only sites that they need. And nowadays, with all those hi-speed unlimited plans all most of people do is surfind the net. This is one of the worst infographs I’ve seen in a long time. While I understand the sentiment, it’s ridiculously uninformed. Not a single one of the first 5 words are endangered or will be and all of the last 3 are ill conceived.



‘Print’, I think, already begins to mean, ‘create file’.
