Alot of software out there can do the task needed, but let's face it, SIMPLER IS BETTER! Hassles of converting, adding menus, and burning nowadays just need to be click, click, burn! Nero offers that... but there stuff sucks now. Too many glitch's and complications. Many people report troubles with installation, un-installation, and general functionality. It does seem that Ashampoo Burning Studio is the next in line for a simple and easy 'burn and watch' method. Good luck

InfraRecorder is terrific for compiling and burning CDs and DVDs, but it hangs up if you want to burn more than a single image to disc. Works great the first time; hangs on the second. I use IR for building new compilations, burn them to an image, then use ImgBurn for burning the image to disc. No problems!

I use CDBurnerXP for many years, but today I have a new Philips DVD Player.
My problem is that this DVD Player doesn't work with DVD created in CDBurnerXP.
I set Multiregion (9) code, so I can see DVD from Europe and USA without any problem.
But Movies created in CDBurnerXP shows "BAD DISK" when i try to play it.
I believe that CDBurnerXP burn DVD as Region 0, and this dvd palyer doesn't work for DVD without specific region (1 - 8).
Do you know a software to burn DVD that set Region 1 ?

thanks in advance for your help,
Ed

To Moderator: 2 posts before mine (from nickname "Free Download.." are spam - delete if possible.

Updates on Nero Lite and ImgBurn.
Nero Lite:
Minor pains:
The Installer alone is 32 MB, the burner software is more than 100 MB. Annoyingly insists on "registration" every time you turn it on (just give them any email and name). "Ask Toolbar" can be un-installed later. I Firewalled Nero (don't want it to talk behind my back). RW blanks it sometimes doesn't recognize, and sometimes does.
Major pains:
It can only burn audio CDA tracks using the entire source audio disc (like Clone Disc)- no Drag-n-Drop or other selection is allowed. Or it can burn selected Data files (AVI, MP3 etc) - so you can pick what you want from the source disc, but it won't burn CDA files in this mode. All other functions are disabled (the buttons are there, but they only open the Buy window).
It does need 2 disc drives to copy audio disc, 'cause it doesn't create the image. The function "Write to Image Recorder" means "Save the Project" - i.e. save the list of tracks, but you can't burn from it like from the actual disc.

ImgBurn:
Minor pains: same as Nero Lite, it doesn't allow selection of audio CDA tracks - it burns either everything from the source disc, or nothing.

RE: gapless recording with ImgBurn. With audio CDA disc it looks like it makes the exact copy, i.e. Clone, including gaps if there are any on the original disc. (And Nero Lite appears to do the same - exact clone). You can force ImgBurn to round the gap to the nearest second, if you wish (on the stage of Reading). With Data files or Cue files it seems like you can insert 0, 2, or 4 sec gaps in the Build or Write stage. (Nero Lite doesn't allow ANY settings in ANY mode).

Updates.
I tried some of those for audio CD. The task was: gapless recording of CDA files from store CD to CDR or CDRW. You see, some albums have NO gap between tracks, like Pink Floyd etc.

1) Burner XP. There are gap settings, but even with gap set to 0 it left audible click in that spot. Verdict - to garbage bin.
2) InfraRecorder. Does not support CDA files (sees them, but says "this format is not supported). CDA is a regular format on audio CD, WTF? Verdict - to garbage bin.
3) Burrrn. This was the worst - it didn't even see any files on the source audio CD. Verdict - to garbage bin.
4) Burn4free. It leaves no gap (if you wish so), and no click in place of gap. One problem - it requires 2 working CD drives, 'cause it can't memorize the track or CD image and then write it onto another CD, inserted into the same drive (i.e. source CD goes out, target CD goes in).
5) ImgBurn. Can memorize image of the source CD and then write it onto the target CD, inserted in the same drive. Shows session log. Don't see settings for gapless recording or ANY settings for gap.
Verdict - will keep it and use together with Burn4free until find something better. There is a forum for ImgBurn, will have to check.

RE: Free Nero. Once again - there is no such thing. I tried to install Nero Lite - it's 30 MB, btw.
1) It wants my email before downloading. Any email is fine. I gave them some non-existent.
2) It's trying to install Nero Ask Toolbar - I don't need spyware in my browser. Without this Ask (and some other 3rd party software) Nero Lite doesn't install.
