Test Your Drawing Skills While Entertaining Friends And Yourself With Draw Something [Android & iOS]

drawing app for androidWe’ve actually talked about this popular game quite often, but never gave it a full review. I feel that’s a disservice to our readers, as there are still people out there who haven’t heard of it, no matter how popular it was when compared to the popularity of other apps. This app took many of us by storm, and with good reason.

About Draw Something

Draw Something is an app by OMGPOP, which is now owned by Zynga, in which you draw out words and send them to your friends in order for them to try to guess what the word is. The game is quite hilarious because of some of the words included in the game, and other times because of the friend’s level of drawing. The aim of the game is to collect coins (explained later) and to keep the longest streak of correct guesses in a row.

Gameplay

The app uses Facebook or its own login system in order to keep track of your account. However, if you sign up while using your Facebook account, it’ll be much easier to connect with other friends who are playing the game as well.

You can challenge your friends by choosing them, then selecting a word out of a possible three choices, with more coins awarded for more difficult words.

Once you choose your word, you’ll be asked to draw whatever you’d like in order to get your friend to guess the word so that both of you can get coins. While it isn’t exactly prohibited, it’s highly frowned upon to write the word somewhere in the picture.

Once you’ve done that, the drawing will be sent to your friend. Whenever they look at it, they’ll see the progression of your drawing and will be asked to guess the word. This video of how you made your drawing can help by adding time as an additional dimension in your drawing if you can make good use of it. If they guess and get it wrong, they can keep trying until they guess correctly. Once they do, you’ll both get coins and the process repeats in the other direction.

Coins

Coins are a form of currency in the game in which you can upgrade to a larger number of colors which you can use in your drawings, as well as increase the amount of words you can draw out. Without any upgrades, all possible words to choose from will come out of a relatively small pool.

Badges

You can also get some badges by completing certain tasks within the game. Many of them require you to draw out certain words and have your friends guess them correctly in order to get the badge.

Settings

You can also access a couple of settings from the app itself, including settings for the sound, notifications, your game account, and more. However, these are all fairly low-key and don’t affect gameplay itself.

Installation

You can install the game by searching for “draw something” in your respective app store. It may be possible that the game will appear as “Draw Free”, but if it has a lot of downloads and reviews then you probably have the right app in front of you. However, if you want to play safe, you can follow this link for your Android device or this link for your iOS device.

Conclusiom

At first glance, Draw Something seems like a nice time waster, but you quickly realize that it can get pretty funny with enough friends. It does disappoint me that there are a lot of ads that appear in the game (Zynga has to monetize their games somehow), but I found it at times ridiculous. Hopefully they can fix that, because when users can focus on the game itself, it’s a really nice app.

Have you tried Draw Something or similar before? Are there any other games with similar interactivity which you can recommend? Let us know in the comments!

I think I’ve seen it in Play somewhere, however, didn’t got my attention that much, and I find very annoying people asking us to play some games in FB!

    Cheers

That’s true for the most part. I feel that more people would have kept playing the game had Zynga not bombarded it with ads.
