Google builds the world’s biggest collection of pirated media, Yahoo gets its monthly new CEO and Microsoft adds ads to a service people are already paying for. It’s episode 29 of Technophilia: This Series of Tubes.

• RIM to pay $147 million for patent violation. More bad news for the makers of the moderately intelligent phone known as Blackberry.
