just made the switch recently! I could really use this!!
I’m a firm believer in alternate manuals, that is to say other than those published by the mfg. I enjoy the great additional insight offered by developers and everyday users.
Should be interesting *crosses fingers*
I have a late 2009 Mac Book and I love it, even though I don’t compleatly understand it…!!!
I would LOVE to be one of the winners of this manual. Sure could use it!!! Thanks so much….especially if I win!
I’d love to have this book, I just switched to Mac!
Switched to a Mac last year and still getting over the old PC habits.
I wanna win! It would be awesome and helpful.
I switched to Mac about 2 years ago, and I’m sure there’s a lot I still don’t know. Would love to have this!
These are really great guides! I’ve not read this one yet, so I’m looking forward to learning a few new tricks.
Ready for my first jump into the Mac realm.
India really needs more Mac.
I’ve had my MacBook for a couple of years. I’ve switched for good, but y’know, there’s always more to learn. Plus I’m probably going to get a new MacBook Pro in the fall, I’ll need the tips for Snow Leopard!
I have not read one of the “missing manuals” but I have quite a few “manuals” for Linux. I have read other O’reilly books and found them to be very useful and have bought them in the past. I currently am learning my new imac and this would probably be a useful read. thanks.
I am just over one week with new Macbook and, needless to say, I’m finding the switch quite daunting! Excited about learning all the nifty ways Mac differs from my PC, along with all the shortcuts and tricks possible. I’m still having issues getting comfortable with closing, minimizing, and zooming windows on this thing!! I need this book.
I’ve been thinking my next PC might be a Mac Book Pro, this would be very helpful. Thank you!
Hey,
This book looks awesome. I just got a brand new macbook pro. I love it but I’m a little lost. I don’t want to have to install windows on it.
please help me :)

I bought myself a Mac shortly before Christmas and my Dad switched to one just after, while we’re both doing ok I’d love to be able to help him learn to use the machine and this would certainly help me to help him! And also to help myself.
I have been bitching about Windows issues for too long and, mercifully, my hard drive crashed last month. I purchased a Macbook Pro several weeks ago and I could really use some productivity enhancements as I complete my transition!
I am getting a macbook pro this summer and after having been a PC user for an eternity, I could really need some help… Plus i would show off how easy it is to use a Mac and hopefully have some more converts in my family ;-)
Huge Mac fan and new blogger. I would love to review it on my new blog as a way to give back! Thanks!
Just left the Windows (for good, hopefully :-) ) and now I need a really good stuff to bridge the gap for these years of bad habit!
I’d like to switch to Mac this summer …
would like to know more about snow leopard
I’d like a copy to review for potentially recommending to my friends and family.
I have just got a Mac and I am loving it!
I’m switching to a macbook pro in the summer after nearly 20 years of Windows so I could really use this book.
But it looks like I’ve failed to complete the last step required to enter :-(

Hi Eric, do you still experience the issue?
Suspicions confirmed… removing makeuseof from my RSS feed now.
I am 51 years old and have always been a pc guy, UNTIL 2 WEEKS AGO. I finally had all I could take with all the “anti-this and anti-that” software just to see my computer bog down and act lethargic. I feel like I was doing more maintenance than actually enjoying my computer. I bought a MacBook Pro and so far have been very pleased. But I need the ebook to teach this old dog new tricks (or new ways to do the same tricks). Please pick me for the ebook. Thanks!

I like Macs so much I want all my friends and family moving from Windows to Apple. That book would be a great help!
My work has given me an iMac to edit videos on. I am pretty lost when it comes to OSX.
I recently switched along with most of my work colleagues. I read MakeUseOf a LOT, and consequently I seem to be very knowledgable about tech things (if only they knew…!). David Pogue is a great writer and I would love to read what he has to say about the “switch” so I can properly field all of those Mac questions I get asked for my poor Windows refugee colleagues! Thanks for the consideration.
Have been meaning to explore other OS’s, aside from Windows, for ages but have not had the time to devote to the learning curve… This book should help with this!
Would love a copy
I would love to win this manual for a friend of mine who is buying my MAC that I just replaced. It would be so helpful for her since she is switching from PC. Hope I win!
Because I want to know how to make a home network in my house.
Im new to mac and learn something about is a good idea.
I’m buying a mac this week after decades of win use. I’m sure I’ll need help.

It’s always good to refresh your memory!
It can be very helpful. switching OS demands a helping hand.
I need the book, taking into consideration that I consider Snow leopard very nice and good operating system and I need to know more about all details in order to have this transition smoothly.

I just switched to a iMac after being a Windows/Linux user for years. I could so use this book! Thanks!
I’d like to have a copy so I can switch to a Mac with eyes wide open. Better to be prepared first than jump in half blind.
Basically, I like all the missing manual series. Also, I’m keen on Macs. :)
I am thinking about switching to a macbook pro and i would really love to know a few tips before i do
I bought a Macbook after reading the post on “How to become an iPhone Developer” on your website. I love the interface!
I could REALLY use the help….it takes me WAAAY to long to figure this stuff out by myself. Thanks!!!
Pogue is great. Love to read his book.
Ironically, I just tried supporting a Mac user at one of my clients before seeing this contest. I haven’t touched a Mac since OS9 and a book like this would help me get back into the Mac of things.
Should be interesting
Made the switch Late last year. Been too busy to really read all the German info that came with it. I’m American and having an English book on my new Mac would totally rock!
I have a few friends which could benefit from the knowledge I could gain from this book, so maybe I will be able to speak to them in a language they understand. ;-)
I am saving to upgrade to an Apple Macbook in the next few months and believe this would be an invaluable guide for me as i am a virgin to Apple and it’s technology after being a Windows user since i jumped on a computer.
My mom needs this more than I, surely the altruism will get me a shiny prize?
I am just planning to buy a Mac and this book may provide me the right guidance.
Bought 1st MAC 2 months ago. Still not switched over. Been working with PC’s since the days of DOS. Need all the help I can get.
Fed up with MicroSlop, yet is a necessary evil in my business. Yet no one has to know I’m secretly a power Leopard user!
i’ve been trying to make the switch for over a year now (have a mac at home) and just haven’t been able to tear myself away from outlook…. this book just might be the straw that frees me from the pc.
As a technology educator it is important for me to know the in’s and out’s of different kinds of systems. An avid PC user it is time I take the plunge, head over to the dark side and learn a thing or 2 about the Mac. And plus, how could you pass up a Pogue book for their electronic library!
I plan to switch in the near future and I would like to be able to know before hand the tips and techniques that make this switch easier. Thank you for the opportunity to win this.
sure would love to win this
I have just bought a MAC and this is my first one. So I am looking forward to learning the system and using it in my up and coming business. This manual would be a blessing to me as I learn the system.
I’ll use this as my sourcebook as I convert my coworkers
Switched since a year, i’m trying to get others switch. This book would provide additional arguments
I like MAC, but I know only linux
I’d like to see what Mr. Pogue has in this book. His other “Missing Manuals” are great. I have switched, and know that there is something that I have missed. I’m sure that Pogue has covered it as usual.
I could also use it, so that when I am done with it, I could pass it on to the many people who I have converted, and they can also learn the ins and outs of going from the dreaded Windoze to a Mac.

Just got an IMac after years of windows and as much as I love the new system there are so many things that I haven’t a clue on how to do on the IMac that I was fluent with on windows. Just figured out by accident how to copy an image for example. My shift work makescit difficult to attend the classes that Apple offer so I could really use this book so I can teach myself at my own pace and really start enjoying my new computer
I switched to Mac last year and this would really help my wife with the transition.
Love O’Reilly (has the best documentation – I always buy their programming guides over the rest of the pack) and I am going to take the Mac plunge that I’ve wanted to for AGES – so this would be the perfect book!
And, both are made better by the pertinent, up to the second and user enhancing tips and pointer of MakeUsOf!

I love Makeuseof! They have so many wonderful tips. I would love to win the switching to the Mac the missing manual because I just got a MacBook pro and I love it! It is so much more reliable than windows and much faster! I have an app on my iphone about this, but it is hard to read and refer to on there. By the way… check out the Makeuseof free app in the itunes store! It is great. I am not sure where to comment because I signed into facebook, but I don’t see it here. I just signed up so maybe I don’t know what I am doing.
Really need the guidance as I am as efficient as I could be.
I used a Mac in college, but it’s been years since I had a functional Mac. I’m ready to make the switch back to Mac, but a manual would be very helpful. Also, I love David Pogue’s writing, so I’m sure this would be a great resource. Thank you!
I switched to Mac in May of last year and a few months ago I upgraded from Leopard to Snow Leopard. The changes have been significant but when there is something different it often takes me a little while of searching Google and Apple.com looking for a solution. it would be nice to have this book to save me that time.

I’m a long time Mac user who helps Windows users become converts. This will help me!

I love David Pogue! His instructional books are so interesting and more fun than going to a movie.
