The Instagram photo filter craze has taken over just about every smartphone out there, but for those of you who just can't get enough, SuperPhoto is here to bring it to your Mac. SuperPhoto operates just about how you would expect it to - pick a photo, pick a filter, smash them together, and save your newly-created artwork so you can post it on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter .

The mechanics aren't as important when it comes to this app, but it's a good idea to explain them anyway. There are two panes in the app's window - one for effects, and one for selecting photos from your computer. To create an image, just drag an effect and your photo to the designated drop-off zones. After clicking the "play" icon, SuperPhoto will combine them to create an interesting-looking image.

However, as aforementioned, it's not so much about how the app works that makes it good. What's more important is what it offers.

With the free version of SuperPhoto, you get over 100 unlocked effects. That's already more effects than what you would get with any filtering app on your smartphone. However, if you opt to go for the paid version, you get over 1,300 to choose from. In short, that's more pictures of your cereal bowl than you can shake a slice of bacon at.

SuperPhoto is a fun app for basic photo editing. One downside is that it requires an Internet connection to work, but when one is available, it's quite effective.
