Twitter allows us to make connections with real people from different walks of life, but it is also a haven for spammers and fake accounts. Fortunately, we have an app called Status People that scans your Twitter followers and flag fake accounts for you.
Status People works by going through your follower’s profile and comparing them against a specific set of rules that would show whether the profile is likely spammy or not. A fake Twitter account usually meets a certain criterion such as few to no tweets or followers. Twitter accounts that have a low “follower to following ratio” is also a good indicator of the account being fake.
Once the scan is complete, StatusPeople will display a percent value of your fake, inactive, and good friends. You can then share you score through Twitter or search your friends’ scores. This app is ideal for those who need to check for spammers from their followers’ list and clean them out.
