Coding the CSS for backgrounds you see in images can be a bit tricky. What one could really use is a tool that detects the dimensions of sprites in images and generates their CSS code automatically. SpriteCow is precisely that tool.
SpriteCow is a free to use web service that generates the CSS code of sprites in images. To start you can upload any image stored on your computer. A color picker lets you specify the background color on the image. Next you can click-and-drag on a portion of the image for SpriteCow to automatically detect the sprite in that region; its corresponding CSS code is quickly generated and displayed.
