Spotify, one of the most popular methods of consuming music on the go and in front of a computer, has launched a huge refresh that changes the look of all of its applications while also adding some new functionality and features that should make everything easier to use.
The first thing you will notice is that the app has been given a new look, with dark colors throughout. Everything from the colors to the icons and text has been given a major overhaul, and it’s definitely slick looking. The redesign allows the content of the app to look like it’s coming forward, sort of like dimming the lights when watching a video.
The music streaming service is also adding a music collection feature called My Music that makes it easier to save the things you come across on the service for later access. It functions a lot like how just saving to a playlist did before, but it does make it a little easier and it allows users to browse music with cover art sort of like iTunes.
Another improvement to Spotify comes to the Browse feature, which has been made smarter for allowing users to find the kind of music that suits their current mood. That, along with the new look for the Browse section, makes it quite a bit easier to use.
There’s a slight chance you may not see the new changes yet as Spotify is doing a gradual roll out. You’ll know when it’s there, as the changes to the look are quite noticeable compared to the old layout.
