Tablets are increasingly being used in classrooms and new ways are being constantly thought of to help the learning process. One tool that works towards this purpose is SketchLot.
SketchLot is a free to use web service that makes using a tablet in the classroom environment easier. The application provides teachers and students with an online environment in which they can create sketches on their tablets easily and then share them with one another. This can help any type of class – younger students can share sketches and drawings, whereas older students can carry out their working in the sketches and share it with the class or teachers.
If you are a teacher, you start by signing up for an account on the website and then you set a class code. Your next step to add students, who are assigned passwords which you can modify.
You can optionally add sketches that can be shared with all students or some of them. Sketching tools includes freehand drawing, straight lines, rectangles, color selection, erasing, and magnification. Students can log into their SketchLot accounts using the class code and the assigned passwords.
They can create sketches of their own, perhaps in response to your sketches, and then share them with the teacher and / or other class members selectively. A user’s own sketches and the ones that are shared with him / her can all be seen on the dashboard.
