Thankfully, the days of manual software updates may very well be over thanks to efforts by a security firm called Secunia

Secunia PSI isnt a great option for checking which softwares are out-of-date.
I think it only includes programs with a known security vulnerability.

If you want to know all programs which are out of date (and may or may not have a known vulnerability), then use SUMo (the best) or FileHippo Update Checker (works only with freewares).
Use Secunia if you only want to be notified if a software has known security issue.
