This is a good site but the problem is that you do not know whether to trust the downloaded file or not. It is better to read a description to the file from a dependable source and then only I wish to download. I use the site http://downloadanystuff.org and use the Drop Down option of “Rapidshare Files” and I find almost anything. Besides ‘Megaupload Files” and files from other search engines are also easily found.

The major reason i didn’t use sites like RapidShare123.com in the past is beacause they often gave me links from pages i didn’t recognise and/or trust. I never did trust what i’d find in them rar files, regardless of their bname and size!

One way around this is to use a programme like sandboxie, and download the files from a sandboxed browser. Rar files can then be extrated within sandboxie (using sandboxed winrar). That way any malware/viruses you find within rar files can be instantly and permanently deleted simply by deleting the sandbox.

I agree with Simon, I can also recommend JDownloader!
The new interface is very slick and I don’t care whether it runs in Java or not

(Although I’ve never tried the auto-unrar feature, does it work decently?)

It’s probably because im using a premium account (shared with 2 friends = reduced cost )but i find rapidshare MUCH faster than torrents..
Premium also allows the use of download managers, so i too, can schedule when downloads start and stop.

Can you really trust these search sites though? I mean, sure you get the link.. But what if the RAR/ZIP is password protected? you’re kinda screwed then. I stick to website forums that specialise in rapidshare.. and you.. find the links there… ahem…

I kinda think Rapidshare, Megaupload, MediaFire, etc. are, in fact, a throwback or old school as far as technical achievements — there is nothing revolutionary about file hosting-servers – or grabbing uploaded files from servers. But there is something very radical and revolutionary about peer to peer file sharing – going into all the different peers’ personal pc’s and grabbing pieces and bits to get a large complete file is on, at least, another higher plane. I would rather see a real good advancement in this than getting files from servers that come with a shitload of restrictions.

Thats nice Karl but your promotional effort was behind rapidshare which requires 15 min interval between each download for free users which I’m sure you know…So there are obviously better file sharers which everyone else knows…

When you have large files to share you know you’re going to have to split them most of the time so 100 mb is the general rule of thumb…

SavR is a large file sharer which is nice but you don’t know how long they’ll last and not enough people know about them or use them…

MU is my favourite by far, good for free users, great for premium users

MF is also very good, although I dont like the 100mb limit on files

Come on…Are you serious…You’re shameless…Rapidshare like torrents…SUCK…Big Time if you know anything about them…torrents you’re grabbing bits N pieces which was fine in its day…Rapidshare is good as long as you have plenty of time & free bandwidth or pay the subscription fee because downloading 7 files depending on the time of day can take you up to a half hour for each file…So come on be Honest & fair…

Megaupload is one of the fastest & one of the best…

Mediafire is possibly the future of file sharing…fast and easy…

I use Direct Downloads mostly for EBooks or the occasional image pack.

For movie/music/apps I just use Demonoid or ILoveTorrents.

Thats why you use something like JDownloader, it automates the entire process…just copy the links in and it will download them.
