This program is great because you can use it in conjunction with remote desktop software. Locate 32 does a great job streamlining the search process on host servers across multiple platforms. I would highly recommend it.

I recommend lookeen, because I have made very good experiences with this seach tool. First I used lookeen (it's an outlook plug in) just for it's superlative outlook search, but now, I use lookeens whole spectrum. I foud out, that is't also a very powerful desktop search...

I have been using Google Desktop both at home and in work, however I found my low speced work laptop tended to respond slower when it is installed so I removed it. I may well give this product a go on here and see how well it prefroms.

[...] MakeUseOf.com If you want to search and locate files on your computer fast, and by fast I mean lightning fast, you must try Locate32. Locate32 lets you search for files and folders on your hard drive and other locations with lightning speed. It uses databases to store information about directory structures and then utilizes them when you search for something. If this rings a bell and makes you think about Windows Desktop Search or Google Desktop, then you are not far wrong except that Locate32 is a lot faster and lighter. [...]

Yes you can have separate databases, just go to Options > Settings > Databases and manage and create your databases from within here

Can you have separate search databases by installing (ur extracting) the application on several locations on your pc? I want to have different search databases, and I don't want the results from one database appearing in the results of a query on a different database. For example, you may not want your email database searched when your querying your code db.
