EVEREST – Smokin’ The Town

EVEREST, a band of six based in Barcelona, Spain, was formed in 2010 when three of its members attended London’s High Voltage Festival. The debut show as a band followed in November 11th, 2011 at Ovella Negra. From the album page: “This album has been recorded over the first months of our career as a complete band. Matthew Reed – Come and Drink

Genre: indie, christian, rock

From his Facebook page: “An anthem for this generation to unite as one voice to see hope arise in the darkest places on earth,” says Matthew Reed, as he describes his debut release. People who like raw worship along the likes of John Mark McMillan, Gungor, Phil Wickham and Daniel Bashta will love this cd’s unhindered creativity and sound. “These songs all came out of a hunger to see God show up in my life and a passion for the church to arise and sing for the King,” says Reed. The record was produced by Michael Rossback out of Colorado Springs, CO, who is known for his work with Gungor, Paul Baloche, and Jared Anderson.

Young Galaxy – Versus

From the album page: “Montreal’s Young Galaxy create music that has been described as sexy, spacious, and haunted by ghosts in silver, black and primary colours. Young Galaxy have three albums under their belt; the latest being “Shapeshifting”, which was produced by one of the world’s most acclaimed and secretive producer Dan Lissvik (one half of the Swedish duo Studio). In late 2011, Young Galaxy was commissioned to complete a number of remixes, in which Young Galaxy were able to remix their favourite tracks from their favourite artists including; Austra, Arkells, Grimes, Handsome Furs, Junior Boys, The Sounds and many more! Cloudkicker – Beacons

Genre: instrumental, progressive, rock, ambient, metal

Cloudkicker is the music project of Ben Sharp from Columbus, Ohio. From his Last.fm profile: “Cloudkicker is a one man progressive metal project from Ben Sharp (aka B.M. Sharp), heavily influenced by math metal and post-metal. Sharp utilizes drum machines and custom tuned guitars in his recordings. Progressive and instrumental influences are also obvious in his music. Aviation has been a major recurring theme within each release. Most of the song titles, album titles, and art work are inspired, derived, or influenced by Aviation. For example, each song title from Beacons was taken from actual black box recordings or radio transmissions from from crashed or malfunctioning airplanes.

This compilation is made up of a selection of independent bands from Colombia that belong to the respective association. The album is published under the association’s own netlabel under a Creative Commons license which demands credit is given to the original artist.

Every Day – Early Demos 2011

Every Day is Fallon Braddy and his microtape recorder. Fallon likes to describe his solo project with a quote from LEopold Stokowski: “A painter paints his pictures on canvas. But musicians paint their pictures on silence. We provide the music, and you provide the silence.” So shhhhhh
