The Declining Winter – The Year of Forty
Genre: alternative, acoustic, pop, folk, post-rock
From the Homepage: “There has been a distinct lack of Declining Winter activity this year. I’ve been involved mostly in the Memory Drawings project as well as general life-living stuff. I had intended to release a record this year, a 10? we finished in march has now been put back to 2013 which is a real shame as I was excited to see it see the light of day. There is also some kind of in-built mechanism preventing me from finishing any tracks except this one ‘The Year of Forty’ which has been meddled with for months off and on. There has been talk of releasing it on 7? vinyl and I hope that still comes to fruition, but for now please feel free to download the track plus a couple of demo’s from our Bandcamp page. The songs will only be up until the end of October so make sure you get it straight away!”

The Belle Jar – Fall Systems Go
Genre: indie, americana, folk, rock
From their Facebook page: “The Belle Jar has hit the ground running since the six members converged in Denver from musically rich places like L.A., Texas, Chicago and Minnesota. This diversity fuels the catchy folk rock songs of lead singer Ryan James. After several years of teaching English and sporadically playing solo shows in southern California, Ryan moved home to Colorado to write and record the debut album Fall Systems Go. He recorded the album over a period of two years in various houses, churches, hotels and basements. On the album, he plays every instrument and sings every harmony. Not bad for someone who didn’t even play music until college.”

Genre: acoustic, progressive, instrumental, rock, post-rock, psychedelic rock
This band trio is currently touring the UK until early November. From the album page: “All three rising bands have been championed by Prog, and have received support from Rock-A-Rolla magazine and the blogosphere. Fiercely independent, these bands are unique and on the cutting edge of current UK progressive rock. As kindred spirits, Knifeworld, TFATD and Trojan Horse represent forward looking, challenging, dense yet melodic exploratory rock. This co-operative touring ensemble will deliver an unforgettable night of head melting invention with not a cape or Mellotron in sight.
Expect gnarled Northern experimentalism from Manchester four piece Trojan Horse. Acoustic loop wizard Matt Stevens ‘gone electric’ delivers angular and epic swathes of post- riffery with The Fierce And The Dead while eight-piece Knifeworld, fronted by Cardiacs and Guapo guitarist Kavus Torabi and including members of Chrome Hoof, deliver dense, soaring, kaleidoscopic prog.”
