Instapaper is yet another app with a shiny, redesigned interface for iOS7 to show off to its users, hot on the heels of the site being sold to new owners, and a huge redesign of the website. For those of you who have been in self-imposed tech hibernation over the years, Instapaper is an excellent app for saving articles to read later, if you don’t have time to read them immediately. The problem for me though is that I then tend to forget about the articles in the list, and I now have well over 200 to get through.
So without further ado, let’s unveil the new interface. Drumroll please…
As you can see, very clean, very stripped down, very calming to read. Of course, if all that white is blinding you and giving you a headache, you can switch the background to sepia or black.
And when you open an article, it gives you a Readability-style stripped down version of the article. No accompanying photos so if you want to see them, you have to go to the online version of the article.
But it is the sorting and filtering which is the most significant update. As well as sorting by oldest or newest, you can now sort and filter by shortest to longest. So if you only have 10 minutes to spare, you can filter to the short articles, and if you have say an hour, you can choose a longer article.
Instapaper is also now translated into Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Italian, Turkish, Russian, Dutch, and Polish. As well as English obviously.
