The Opportunity Gap is a web based tool by ProPublica, a non-profit news organization in the US. It analyzes the US federal education data as well as data from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights to check if the public schools across the country are providing equal access to important programs such as higher-level science and maths classes. You may search for a school by its name, address or zip code. As you see in the image below, it shows the number of students, inexperienced teachers, advanced placement course data for the school and more for every school.
The data on the site includes schools and districts with a minimum of 3,000 students, and this covers almost 75% of all public school students. If your child studies in a public school in the US then you may use this tool to check if the school is doing what it is supposed to do.
