Your choice of font can make or break a design... but previewing fonts on your computer, whether on a Mac or Windows machine, can be a cumbersome affair.

Online tool WordMark.it makes it incredibly easy to see a preview of all fonts installed on your computer, all on one easy-to-view and customizable screen.

WordMark.It's Features

On the surface, WordMark.it is a simple tool to use. Type in your preview text (it can be one word, a phrase, or a whole paragraph) and hit Enter to see how it would look using all the fonts installed on your computer.

You will have to enable Adobe Flash in order for the site to work.

Filter and Save Fonts

Click on fonts to select them, and then hit the Filter selected button if you want to narrow down your choices.

When you've made your final selections, you can hit the Save Image button to download a PNG screenshot with your selected previews and font names. You can also quickly print that selection out directly from the website.

If all you need to do is preview, filter, and save fonts, you can use the service without signing up for an account. But a free account is definitely worth your while if you need to categorize your fonts using tags.

Categorizing Fonts With Tags

To add tags, select all the fonts you want to tag to and click Filter selected. A menu will appear above the fonts. Click the tag button and enter the name of the tag. WordMark.it allows you to add multiple tags to each font. Once you start tagging fonts, a new button will appear in the top right hand corner that allows you to filter fonts by tags.

You can use tags to categorize fonts by traditional classifications: Serif, Sans Serif, Calligraphic, etc. You can use tags to categorize fonts you can use for commercial or personal use. Or you can use classifications that make sense for the type of work that you do.

Why WordMark.It Is Useful

This tool is extremely useful for designers who are trying to determine which fonts to use in any given project. You can quickly compare fonts to see which one is best to us. You can also use the filter to preview different font pairings to see how they work together.

The tagging system makes it very easy for designers or creatives to adhere to licensing restrictions for their fonts. You don't want to inadvertently use a personal use font commercially, and WordMark.it makes it easy to keep all that information organized.

WordMark.it's clean interface, together with the option to preview the fonts against a white or dark background, makes it one of the best font preview tools out there.
