Bulky, black and boring. If you’re fed up with these laptop bag features, we’ve got some style in store for you.
Devices are becoming ever smaller, lighter, and more fancy. Bags and sleeves have co-evolved; so much actually that they no longer just protect your laptop, but may even qualify as fashion accessories for both women and men. Here’s a selection of functional, yet fashionable laptop bags to match your style.
Audience: business, unisex.
Crumpler’s iconic bags dare to be different and all of their products come with a lifetime warranty. This particular bag is suitable for a business environment, although refreshingly unique.
The Dry Red No. 7 Briefcase and Laptop Bag has five storage zones to fit all your documents, gadgets, and up to a 15-inch MacBook. It comes with a wide detachable strap, padded neoprene handles, and a ding-me sleeve. The latter slides over the handle of a wheeled luggage, to hold the bag in place as you rush to catch your flight. The Dry Red No. 7 Briefcase and Laptop Bag is available in a non-conformist red or a business camouflage black with a covert red interior.
Price and Verdict: Crumpler has never been cheap, but always worth it at $115.
Audience: students, unisex.
While the previous model was largely unisex, here’s a laptop bag designed with women in mind, although the look and functionality will equally appeal to our male counterparts.
The OGIO Midtown (Women’s) Messenger bag comes with plenty of storage room to fit all of your gadgets. For example, you can snug your tablet or e-reader into the padded slip pocket on the backside. On the frontside, you’ll find multiple small pockets for all the small stuff. The main compartment features a fleece lined and padded laptop compartment that fits most 15-inch laptops. The bag comes in many different colors and some are available in different sizes, although it’s unclear what these are and no word on it on the Ogio website.
Price and Verdict: Lovely bag and other customers seem to be happy with it. Depending on the size and model, Amazon charges you between $51 and $105. At $70 you might get a better deal buying directly from Ogio.
Audience: lovers of simplicity, travelers, unisex (depending on style).
This simplistic laptop bag is available in various sizes (up to 17.4-inch), colors, and with many different prints. The light neoprene sleeve is water resistant, making it the ideal companion for the frequent traveler, although not quite outdoors-compatible. Note that the zipper doesn’t close fully when the handle is in use.
Price and Verdict: At $19.95, this is a steal, although keep in mind that it’s a laptop sleeve with handles and a thin side-pocket, nothing more. You might get an even better deal for some models from Meffort’s own shop.
Audience: female fashionista.
Impress your peers with a high quality faux leather briefcase that holds your gadgets in style.
The elegant bag rests on metal feet. The main compartment fits a small 11-inch laptop, although not specifically designed for it. It features the standard zipped divider compartment, a zip pocket on the back wall, and multifunctional pockets on the front wall. The bag comes with carrying handles and an optional shoulder strap.
Price and Verdict: The look is truly exquisite, but the material is faux. On the upside, this keeps the price somewhat modest at $41.99 for the Croco or $49.99 for the plain briefcase. With this bag, you might want to get a separate sleeve to protect your laptop.
Audience: businesswomen with style.
This model features a classic handbag look and is made from Italian leather, yet it’s fully compatible with the modern lifestyle. Women looking for a camouflage briefcase, should consider this sleek hide-a-laptop handbag.
The McKlein Lake West laptop bag looks and feels like a handbag. It comes in six colors, including classic red and black, as well as four fresh colors. A top zipper seals the main double compartment, which holds a fully padded, removable sleeve for a laptop of up to 15.4-inch and is divided by a secured zipper pocket for extra security. Smaller gadgets, pens, and business cards fit into the front organizer zipper. For carrying the bag, you have the choice of tubular straps or a shoulder strap.
Price and Verdict: Quality and style come at a price. In this case, $104 and up.
