As a browser, Chrome has long been effective at killing pop-ups but not pop-unders. Poper Blocker is an extension for Chrome which promises to finally kill pop-unders in a similar way to how the browser itself kills pop-ups. By default whenever a pop-under appears, the extension displays a notification with the option of displaying it in case it is something you want to see.
Preferences can be saved to a whitelist, so any websites you frequent that do use these windows can be permanently allowed through the filter. The whitelist can be managed from the preferences page of the extension. The extension only requires access to your data on websites, as opposed to browser history and other personal information.
