A further 11% of the readers don’t have Black Friday in their country.

I don't think you can beat the Sinclair Spectrum for gaming.
It still is ahead of it's time and blows the PS4 and XBox one away.

My biggest disappointment in both the PS4 and XBO is that neither are backwards compatible. That tosses out the large array of previous system games I have. And the WiiU is such a disappointment from how great the Wii was in it's day.

We PC gamers have all we need at our desk. We need not spend exorbitant amounts of money on a self-contained unit every two years. We can usually get away with upgrading one or two components and have at least as fast or faster and better looking games than the Console people, who burn through their credit card limits faster than we can say "No thanks" to all the "free console" offers on facebook.

None of the above - I have a PC - I can actually do things that cannot be done on the toyboxes. Including upgrading various components on my schedule instead of the entire box on their schedule. And even changing operating systems as needed (install the steam OS and it's a steambox) I currently run both Win7 and Linux on the same box. The console makers are constantly making their consoles more and more 'like' a PC. But they still have quite a ways to go.

I chose the PS4, because there still aren't any Katamari games on the XBox.

"There aren’t any Katamari games on the PS4 either, right?"
Not yet, there aren't. But there have never been on any XBox platform or PC, only the PS line and the one iPad, and I think that PS handheld had one. The odds are on PS, if there are more. I'm probably missing one, but the upshot is that the Katamari games are good enough that I'll base my purchasing decision on the next release.

Katamari or Cat Mario! (3D World?) Please don't shoot me.

Of the consoles listed I would have to pick the Wii U, simply because of the fact that they know they can't compete with the PC. They know they can't compete with PC, they know are underpowered, so instead of having the "best graphics" they have to push creativity. Unlike the PS, and Xbone.

PC and Wii U hands down, all the rest aren't worth your time.

Xbox One and PC. PS4 offers nothing new but a slight graphic upgrade. Xbox One gives a whole new UI and entertainment experience.

Like I said in my article, I think if you're buying right now, you should buy a Wii U. There are some really awesome games for it. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have very little in the way of games, as is typical for consoles at launch. The PS4 is actually the weakest in this regard.

Besides, I don't think you can actually get a PS4 right now, though I have seen Xbox One boxes in stores.

Given the choice of the game consoles my first thought is to get a PS4. Unfortunately since it will not be able to use my PS3, PS2 and PS games I have decided to stop buying game consoles. I will use the cost of the PS4 and take my wife out for a nice dinner.

There's no reason to look at consoles for gaming. Get a gaming computer. Most of the games will be crappy console ports anyway, but at least you'll have the option of doing as much retro or emulated gaming as you feel the need to do. You'll also be able to have experiences that simply aren't possible on a console, like multiscreen gaming and running mods.

Nothing will ever come close to what I pull off with proper upgrading on my computers. I already have upgraded way past what these two scams can do.

I would rather have valves new game engine.

When I bought my PS3, it was a hard decision to make. The only thing which separated out the PS3 and the Xbox 360 was the fact that I had owned both a PS2 and an original Playstation and I could play Playstation games on the PS3. This time around, I would choose the PS4, hands down.

The PS4 is smaller, seems to have a better game pad, and is focussing more on gaming and indie games, whereas the Xbox One has severely split it's focus into all sections of entertainment.
I can't comment on the game selection, since that will be most apparent about halfway through the generation's lifespan, but the PS4's slightly more powerful GPU and RAM will start to be a big advantage in 5-6 years when developers are struggling to squeeze the absolute most out of the hardware.

That's what I would choose right now. Ask me again in Q2 or Q3 next year, and I may be favouring one of the Steam Machine variants. If those become popular, the face of console gaming may be changed forever.

I want to choose Play Station 4 because I had a experience with Play Station series and want to continue the pick. I like Sony so much that I try to get their devices as much as I can like smartphones.

I agree, consoles are for idiots and lazy people who can't figure out how to use a real gaming system.
