I tried Orbit for a week but in the end I go back to the Winner Combination: Firefox + Flashgot + Flashget 1.9.6
Why?
Because Orbit had problems passing or updating the cookies generated in Firefox (for Megaupload, for example) and more important... because Orbit deletes my search engine shortcuts in firefox (and installs his search engines, also)!!!
Orbit is good, Flashget still haves me (and no problem using flashget to download from megaupload, Rapidshare, Mediafire, depositfiles, and other uploading services with no premium account)

I keep trying to test Orbit on Imeem, but while the songs are always detected, the download always fails. Any option that I should toggle?

I'm a pretty big fan of FDM http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/ It works well with FF and IE, never tried with anything else. Very customizable and has bit torrent support. Open source. Recommended by easynews and novell and a few other places I forget.

I don't believe anything that says it can make downloads faster. As if anything is going to restrict your download speed, unless you tell it to. I'd like to know HOW exactly they speed it up. Pretty sure it doesn't.

I've been using DownThemAll! in Firefox for quite some time. Has multi-threaded downloads, a nice GUI for selecting elements, and integrates into Firefox Portable neatly.

I use Internet Download Manager (IDM). And it has all the functions Orbit has. Catching links from almost everywhere, like Rapidshare, Megaupload and Playlist.com. 1 downside is, it's not a freeware.

I'm just trying Orbit. I like the GUI, very nice. The 'download complete' notification is great, with the 'open' link. Many lack that feature, surprisingly.

Downfalls with Orbit for me are: it isn't automatically putting in the server username and password which I've added to the Site Manager.. the Clipboard Monitoring doesn't always work.. and the download window regularly appears in the background behind Firefox, rather than in front.

I am donwloading Orbit right now from Download.com and guess what, it reminded me of old problem. Most of times, DAP fails to detect Download.com downloads. I hope Orbit does.

This self-called geek uses Download Accelerator Plus(DAP).
Why? Because when I was looking for download managers, it was on top in its category on download.com

It also supports multiple connections but its catching rate is too poor with Opera.
