Making a mental note not to forget something at home more often than not results in you forgetting something at home. An iOS app called Don’t Leave It presents users with a reliable alternative that will prompt you to head back home if you’ve forgotten your keys, wallet, and more.

When you first launch the app, it will ask to use your location and send you notifications. In order for the app to work, you will have to enable both.

The app has a long list of suggested items you might be prone to forgetting from your ATM card and keys to your charger and earphones. There are some less than typical options as well including your car, beer, and shoes. If there’s an item missing from the list, you can add it yourself — it just won’t have a cute icon to go with it.

So let’s say you tend to forget your charger. Select it from the list by tapping on the icon, and select when you want to be alerted about the item. You can choose between increments from 30 steps to 240 steps.

If you want to get a notification for something you tend to forget at home, create that alert while you’re at home. If you want to make sure you don’t forget your wallet at work, create that alert when you’re in your office. Each alert will be activated based on the location where it was created.

A low-tech approach that mostly works: Most everything I need to carry with me for the day -- including door and car keys -- I leave on my table. Nothing else is ever on that table. So, all I have to remember every morning is to take EVERYTHING from the table.

Good suggestion! Kind of a "Mise en place" approach.
In addition to reminding you not to leave HOME without something, our Don't Leave It! app is also helpful for reminding you not to leave ANY location without bringing your important items with you. For example, if you're at a bar, restaurant, library, co-work space, etc. and don't want to walk away without your backpack, umbrella, jacket, purse, etc., you can set the appropriate reminder and the app will alert you when you leave.

You could even set an alert to remind you not to get off the airplane without taking your book or tablet from the seat back pocket! Point, is we designed the app for so many scenarios.

We hope you find our app useful!
