I think, you misunderstood me, moorloch.
I just meant ( i am female, btw) ,that i am so use to all the plugins that i have installed over the years, that a barebone maxthon (both 1 and 2) feels crippled to me, as would FF.
I am sure, for newbies who migrate from IE 6 or7 to maxthon, even without the plugins, they will be impressed.

Very serious Firefox lover here, but I have to use IE every now and then with crap sites that refuse to use standards. Mark O’Neill’s comment about the brothel just about cracked me up.

I’ve been using KDE’s konqueror for some years as my only browser, no IE or firefox installed. But now I’m using ffx 3.0b5 since last week, with 30+ extensions, and loving it!

I can’t imagine that any amount of words will make a FF user switch to Maxthon. What I really get tired of is the bragging about how much better FF is than any other browser. It’s not. Anyone who brags about FF, but doesn’t try Maxthon, customized to their liking, is simply not being truthful to themselves and that’s a real shame.

It does NOT make them compatible. It makes FF ignore the fact that their installers say they are incompatible and try to run them anyway. Some extensions will work, yay. Some will fail to go at all, and in that case you’re still lucky. Some will crash your Firefox at random. Force Firefox to ignore compatibility at your own risk.

I tried out 3 for about 3 weeks and had to go back to 2. I had some issues when uploading files and it was hard to live without the extensions. I reported the bugs I could and then switched back.

For the commenters who didn't want to try FF3 beta because they'd lose their extensions, there's an extension called Nightly Tester Tools that comes with an option called Make All Compatible. It will make most of your non-compatible extensions, compatible. I'm using FF3b5 as my regular browser now and only one of my 9 extensions doesn't work (the imageshack uploader.)

We can’t list every single browser! We have to have a cut-off point somewhere. So that’s why we decided to list the “big ones” – IE, Firefox, Opera and Safari and then lump all the others under “other”. If we didn’t do that, we’d end up with a long and unwieldy list.

* Drag a tabbed page out of Maxthon to have a life of its own somewhere else on the screen
* Create groups of web pages you can save and then later restore as a whole
* Sniff out the filenames of video and other media for downloading
* Perform searches using multiple search engines
* Navigate the Web using mouse gestures
* Call up pages using short, easy to type aliases
* Split the screen to show two pages at the same time
* Display weather any place in the world
* Subscribe and play RSS feeds
* Manage downloads
* Customize the keyboard
* Add snatches of Web pages to a collection you can later read and reuse
* Click on a floating icon to easily enlarge the picture it’s floating next to
* Restore tabs that are accidentally closed.

Then explore the hundreds of skins and plug-ins for Maxthon, and you’ll be able to fashion a Maxthon that is the browser you’ve always wished you could have.
