Mp3Cut is a no-frills, really simple web based MP3 file splitter that helps you cut out specific portions of any MP3 file and then download it as a separate MP3 to your computer.

Here’s how it works.

  1. Upload the MP3 file.
  2. It prepares the file for splitting.
  3. You move the sliders to decide what portion of the track you want to separate out.
  4. Click on download and it immediately starts downloading the new file.

In the screenshot below, I decided to split a Bryan Adams song and cut out a few minutes from the track. The entire process, although it took time, was easy and didn’t require any signup from my side.

Of course, you can do the same (and more) with audacity. And to avoid having to install it in any computer you want to work on, you can always install it into your usb stick. For that, you must install "portable applications" (www.portableapps.com) first, and then install audacity. You have to create a bat file to enable audacity to show in the applications menu, but that's easy to do.
And of course, you have to download your own LAME to work with mp3s, but that's free and easy to find and include in your audacity directory. All this can be done within 10 minutes, and you never have to do it again. ;-)
