Two weeks ago we featured a new section called Movers & Shakers where we show you the top ten downloads from CNET. This will be a bi-weekly post and here are today’s Movers and Shakers.
In first place with 259,675,081 total downloads is still AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. I guess they are doing something right! They have a whopping 1,758,099 downloads in the last week!
In second place, another Antivirus application Avast which has total of 74,453,348 downloads and an impressive 1,242,981 downloads this last week! Not quite as popular as AVG but it is moving on up! And here is the full top 10 list of most popular downloads in the last week:
- AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

The only big change was #9 which was FreeZ Online TV place two weeks ago but TeamViewer is a powerful application for screen sharing and fits much better in this list. Some people said they prefer 7Zip to WinRar as it is free ““ we are not judging the downloads but just reporting the facts as to what is actually more popular. And a lot of people continue using the demo version of WinRar indefinitely so to them it is free! You can check out the whole list of 20 from CNet.

I think Avast should come first, with its new interface and new cool features!
I think AVAST should come first because of its new interface and the new great features
While I love the idea of this section, I fear it has already become a repetitive snoozefest.
So put us on what would you like to see here?
What I’d like to see? You’re posting the top ten downloads- Unless I downloaded 10,000 copies of the same software, how could you possibly integrate my opinion
Agreed. This section just lists the top ten downloads; no reviews. If people want to see the list, they can directly go to CNet.
I’m surprised Mozilla Firefox isn’t listed
