If you have to upgrade, you will told when you try to install ML.

As for stability issues with Adobe, I would say it’s a good idea to wait to make sure ML will work with the applications you need it to. Sometimes checking related online forums to see what other users are saying will give you an idea how things are going. If you have two Macs, you might try installing ML first on the Mac you use the least and see how it goes. Sorry I can’t be of much more help than this.

Should I upgrade to Lion now (that the system is clearly stable) or wait a few more months to confirm Mountain Lion is stable?
