When you have a website, it is important that it is accessible at all times because when your site is down you lose traffic and potential customers. The uptime of your website depends mostly on your hosting provider. However, due to various circumstances even the most reliable hosting companies go down taking their websites down with them. There are many online services that let you constantly monitor the status of your website at a defined time interval. Some are free but most of them require monthly subscription fees to use their service. If you don’t want to pay for this service, check out Monitey.
It is completely free software that lets you monitor the online status of your website. They don’t charge any monthly or yearly subscription fees like other similar services. It is easy to use and has a simple interface with few settings to configure.
To set it up to monitor your site, download it from their website and install on your computer. Launch the software and enter the full URL of the website you want to monitor (e.g. http://yourwebsite.com). Then enter the frequency (in minutes) at which you want it to monitor your website. So if you input 2, your website will be monitored every 2 minutes and so on (the minimum is 1 minute). Finally, click the “Start Monitoring” button to start the monitoring process. From that moment on if your website goes down at any time, Monitey will record it and notify you.
All the status reports are saved in the Logs section, which you can check and analyze at any time. To save the Logs for later use, click “Save Log” to save them as a text file. To stop the monitoring, simply click the “Stop” button.
