MiniMe – Minimize ALL Taskbar Programs to System Tray

Dec. 24th, 2008 By Karl L. Gechlik

minimize programs to taskbarAre you tired of having hundreds of windows opened, cluttering your task bar? Have you had bad experiences with other programs that claim to minimize programs to the taskbar – yup we know they just create hundreds of system tray icons then!

One is definately not better than the other. Enter MiniMe. The minimizer that creates a single system tray icon!

This is awesome for those of you that want that “Clean” look and feel even though you are running a gagillion apps.

This tiny minimize to tray freeware download is written in AutoIT and also has the source code available here.

The logic behind this application is simple. You set a hot key to minimize all programs to your system tray. I choose Windows+A as you can see below:

minimize to tray freeware

Now when I want to banish an app away from my task bar and alt-tab switching I hit Windows+A. And BAM just like that it’s gone. After going a little Windows+A crazy I minimized a bunch of apps as you can see here:

minimize all programs

You can bring any of them back from this menu or you can hit Show all to umm well show all of your hidden apps! This is a straight forward app with no hidden functionality – it simply does exactly what it is supposed to do… AND WELL!

Do you use something else to minimize your applications? Something a little more un-conventional? Let us know in the comments… It just might get you a little Christmas Present :)
