Memofon is a free to use web service that creates mind maps out of your notes. You start by creating an account on the website. This can be done simply by logging in through your Twitter or Facebook account. Once this is done you can begin creating your notes.
Each note can have a ‘title’ or a main node. This main node can be indicated in your text by preceding it with a ‘#’ character. You can add subnodes that are linked on the main node using the ‘-‘ character, as can be seen in the screenshot above. The nodes are automatically placed in a mind map form and displayed in the right pane of the website – the left pane shows the text. The mind map is updated in real time. You can add subnodes to the other side of the mind map by adding a main node first.
In addition to getting a mind map view, you can also get a basic textual view that shows your notes in the form of text with headings. This headings view is also shown in the right pane.
The headings view can be customized to show 1 column, 2 columns, 3 columns, or 4 columns. When you are done editing your notes, you can save them to edit later or you can share their link with others for them to view your notes.
