Here is another way to prettify your desktop or your Facebook's cover photo. Map-->Image is an online tool that lets you make beautiful images of an area in a map.

images from maps

Map-->Image uses the Open Street Map API to generate the map's imagery. You only need to search for the location to go the area where you want the image to be taken. You can choose among several map styles including terrain, toner, toner-lite, and watercolor, then set the image size up to 2000 by 2000 pixels. Once done, just click on Make to generate the map image.

You can also zoom in and out of the map to help you take the perfect picture. Once the picture is generated, you can then click to download the image or even embed the map using iFrames. You can also use this to make a cover photo for your profile, make your own wallpaper, or share points of interest.

Map-->Image is a great tool for those looking to find creative ways to make use of map images.
