Make Use Of Podcast #4: Making Vista Faster & Better Commenting

On this week’s Make Use Of podcast I am talking to Karl Gechlik, a Make Use Of writer and the guy behind Ask The Admin. We managed to cover subjects such as Windows Vista, LocatePC, Google Maps and blog commenting.

If you look underneath the show notes on this page, you will see a little media player where you can listen to the podcast right here on the site. Or if you prefer, you can right-click on the “audio MP3″³ logo and save the MP3 file to your computer for listening on your MP3 player or iPod.

We now have the podcast in iTunes so don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast if you have an iPod, or in another podcatcher if you have a different MP3 player.

After listening, please submit your comments below on this page or you can also send me an e-mail with a question, comment, criticism or suggestion, and I’ll also be accepting audio comments, so go ahead and send your MP3 to the same address.

    Hi Jason,

This podcast was very good. This time the sound was just perfect. Maybe this was because you both were friend the USA? I think the name Make Use Of podcast is a good name.

So what did you guys think? Everyone is being so quiet!

I would love to hear some feedback. Bueller…. Bueller….

Sorry Karl! I only got around to listening to it last night. I am a bit behind with everything at the moment.

It was nice to finally put a voice to the name! Your articles are very funny so I was kind of expecting a Robin Williams exuberant wacky kind of character. But you sound very quietly spoken!! Is that really you? Or your representative?! ;-)

All in all, it was an excellent podcast with excellent questions. I really enjoyed it. :-)

It was my first podcast and we were actually supposed to record earlier in the week so there was a lot going on around me at the time – a little distracting. Next time I will record in my office with the door closed and you will see my Brooklyn personality come out…

I think a great idea for the show would be to have all your MUO readers out there send in questions to specific authors… For instance:

“This question goes out to AskTheAdmin – what is the funniest question you have ever gotten asked on your website?”

(I had this one all ready but didn’t get a chance to bring it up… Next time I have notes!)

Yeah, questions to the writers is one feature we hope to roll out very soon. We’re just getting starting with the podcasting and “feeling our way” with it, seeing how it all works and getting feedback from the readers.

Once we get more confident with the set-up and things are more established then we’ll start getting more ambitious with multi-guest formats, phone-ins, questions and much more.

But as you saw with Shankar’s recording last week, we are still having some technical issues with Skype which we are trying to resolve.

I can’t wait to see the PodCast evolve and would love to work with it closer. I will be putting together an “Ask The Admin” Podcast in the next few weeks so be on the lookout for it!
