Last Summer Imgur, the most-used image hosting service on Reddit, launched a meme generator for the web, making it easy for users to create and host images in one place. Now, it is bringing that service to iOS with the launch of its dedicated MemeGen app. Users can now waste time making memes whether at home or on the go.

The app is very simple, allowing users to simply choose their meme from the massive list, and add the text that overlays on top of said image. There is also a search feature that allows you to search for specific memes if you know the name.

Just like the web-based version of the service, it’s very easy to use, which means users can get in, make their joke, and move on with their day. When a user is finished with their meme, clicking “Save” uploads it to Imgur for easy sharing on Reddit, or any other source.

Outside of making memes, the app also has a browse feature that allows users to check out memes created by others. This is a great time waster when you have a few minutes to kill and just want to have a quick laugh. It sorts by popularity and newest, which gives it a little flexibility. Still, it’s a pretty basic feature that could use a few more sorting options to become a serious meme browser.

All in all, Imgur has put out a pretty solid application. It’s easy to use, but its browsing features could be made a little more robust. It’s a good starting point though, and it’s definitely an easy way to make a meme while on the go.
