MagPointer is a desktop application compatible with computers running the Windows operating system. The function of the application is to provide users with numerous useful tools while presenting a PowerPoint slide. The functions covered include highlighting text differently, pointing at objects, and a lot more.

You start by downloading the application’s setup file that is overall sized at nearly 10 MB. When you install the application, you get its icon appearing in the System Tray. You must right-click on the icon and use the activation option to enable the app’s features. To do this, you will need the activation that you can obtain after purchasing the application. The cost of the app is $19.95 for a single user license. Once the application is running, it automatically activates itself whenever you set a slideshow for a PowerPoint slide.

As you can see in the image above, the MagPointer controls appear on the right side of the screen. From here you can conveniently switch slides forwards and backwards. Furthermore, you can draw rectangular shapes to highlight certain areas of your slide. You can also directly select textual objects and highlight them blue, green, red, and yellow colors. Picture enlargement, dimming the non-object screen, and more features are offered by this application.


Although MagPointer is a pay-for application, its developers have generously provides MakeUseOf readers with 30 free licenses. All you have to do is be one of the first 30 people to comment on this post.

    I have been looking for simple and effective tool to improve my Power Point presentation. Maybe this will be the answer. The side Icon commands should be easy to use. Hope it also can be customized on key board or mouse buttons. Wonder if the "first 30 comments" still available?

    This is exactly what I looking for.

    Sometimes, It can be extremely boring having to prepare animations in advance, MagPointer avoids having to do that

    One of the most useful features of MagPointer which hasn't been described in this post is the ability to zoom in on objects with high-quality magnification.

    Except of the free licenses for the 30 first people to comment, the software is available at for a 30-days free trial.
