However, going to point out that Open Source Software is often abbreviated OSS, Free as in freedom is often referred to as free/libre, and thus Free-as-in-freedom Open Source Software is often FOSS or FLOSS (for Free/Libre...FL).

Also, I think terminal v. shell needs some definition, but I&#039;m not sure exactly how to define it simply.  The window in which the commands are typed is the terminal.  But the shell is....I guess you&#039;d say it&#039;s what interprets the commands, and the different shells (Bourne Again, Korn, Z, MirBSD Korn, etc) each have their own idiosyncrasies and special built-in functions.</description>
