Lenka is a black and white photo app developed by world renowned French photographer Kevin Abosch, allowing professionals and amateurs alike to create impressive black and white photographs. You don’t need to shoot in colour first with Lenka, and can see your results in full black and white before you hit the shutter. The app gives each exposure its own unique flavour, and for free this is a must-have for iPhoneographers.

Teslameter for iOS ($0.99, now free)

Your iPhone has a magnetometer in it which measures the strength of surrounding magnetic fields, and that’s what this app displays. It’s a niche application and it won’t be anywhere near as accurate as a dedicated tool, but you might have a use for it if you’re a researcher, ghost-hunter or just plain bored.

Numerity ($0.99, now free)

Numerity is a celebrated numbers-based puzzle game: find and isolate the correct numbers on screen until they resemble a distinctive image. It was designed to tax concentration, memory and numbers skills and provides over 50 levels across five themes to work your way through. The game supports iCloud for syncing between devices, comes with an original soundtrack and is free to download for the moment.

Modern Combat 5: Blackout ($6.99, now $3.99)

Modern Combat has gone beyond being a simple Modern Warfare clone for iOS games and taken on fanbase of its own, growing into a franchise that’s known for its visual splendor and multiplayer fun. Yup – you heard right, there’s a full multiplayer mode here that pits whole squads of people against each other complete with voice chat and rewards to be won.

Talisman ($6.99, now $3.99)

And this week’s board game (or thereabouts) comes from GamesWorkshop in the form of Talisman, a digital version of the best-selling cardboard classic complete with original artwork and revised fourth edition rules. The game itself is family-friendly – you have to do little more than roll a die to move and draw the occasional card to decide your fate. Currently half-price, Talisman has a full miltiplayer mode for two to four players, offline and online.
